Dr. Christian Salzmann

Chris holds the position of Vice President software and integration platforms at BMW Group. In his role he is responsible for software integration into the HPC ECUs of BMW E/E board net including the according software platforms.

He joined BMW Group in 2003, as a team lead for software infrastructure at BMW Car IT. Throughout his career, he has held various leadership positions, including Head of Central Gateway Control Units, Head of Software Development for Body and ADAS, and Head of Software Development for Automotive Core Functions and VP Software Strategy. 

From 2017 to 2019, he led the software platform for ADAS and autonomous driving and was simultaneously the Managing Director of BMW Car IT.

From 2019 to 2024, he served as Senior Vice President for Connected Company, Electronics, and Autonomous Driving at BMW China with development facilities in Beijing, Shanghai and Nanjing, 
and served as the Chairman of the Board of BATechworks, a software Joint venture of BMW and Archermind.

He is a software engineer by education and passion, holds a diploma in computer science from Karlsruhe University, a master degree from the University of Massachusetts and a PhD in Software Engineering of Technical University of Munich.
