Rashmi Gopala Rao

Rashmi Gopala Rao is the Automotive Industry Manager at MathWorks India with experience of 23 years in Automotive embedded systems spanning over Tier-1 (Robert Bosch India Limited), OEM (Maruti Suzuki India Limited) and product companies (ETAS India Private Limited and MathWorks India Private Limited). Her areas of expertise are diesel control systems, body control, chassis systems with exposure to Automated Driving, Software Defined Vehicles and AI. 

At MathWorks she is responsible for strategic planning and technology rollout for the India region. Her focus is to foster industry adoption of Model-Based Design using MATLAB and Simulink by working closely with senior executives of strategic customers, evolving use-cases for emerging areas using MathWorks Solutions and working with product development to evolve roadmaps. Rashmi is an active speaker at conferences and Industry forums, representing MathWorks vision for Automotive Industry.

Prior to joining MathWorks, Rashmi managed the hardware-in-the-loop business for India at ETAS Automotive India Private Limited with responsibilities of Business planning & strategy, design, delivery and support of HiL systems for India Market. She also worked in Maruti Suzuki India Limited as Manager developing the control specification for of Body, HVAC, Airbags controllers where her responsibilities included providing RFQ, vendor selection, validating controllers in all phases of vehicle development for all India specific platforms. Her experience at Robert Bosch India Limited included design, development, testing and commissioning customer specific functionalities for Diesel (Common Rail) ECU software. 

Rashmi holds a bachelor’s degree from Ramaiah Institute of Technology and an executive degree in management (EPBM) from IIM Calcutta. She also is in the management committee of SAE Bangalore section and an active contributor to other Industry bodies such as IESA, SWE to name a few.
