Dr. Rupert Stützle

Dr. Rupert Stuetzle is General Manager for Manufacturing and Mobility EMEA at Microsoft, based in Berlin. In this role, he leads strategic engagements with automotive and industrial companies across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, helping them accelerate digital transformation and innovation through cloud, AI, and software technologies.

Before joining Microsoft in 2023, Dr. Stuetzle was a Partner at McKinsey & Company in Berlin, where he advised global clients in the automotive and manufacturing sectors on digital transformation, including large-scale software development programs and digital business building. 

From 2012 to 2016, he served as Managing Director and CTO at ubitricity, a Berlin-based scale-up pioneering intelligent charging infrastructure for electric vehicles. Under his leadership, the company developed and deployed innovative solutions for urban EV charging, contributing to the early adoption of e-mobility in Europe. Ubitricity has since become part of Shell.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Stuetzle held several leadership roles at Bosch. He led the product area for power electronics in electric and hybrid vehicles, oversaw systems engineering for electric vehicles, and managed customer engineering for electronic control units. His work at Bosch contributed to the development of foundational technologies for vehicle electrification.

Dr. Stuetzle began his professional journey at McKinsey in Munich, where he worked from 1997 to 2004 as a consultant and engagement manager, focusing on technology and industrial clients.

He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Software Engineering from the Technical University of Munich, where his doctoral research focused on guidelines for developing reusable software. He also earned a Dipl.-Ing. (equivalent to M.Sc.) in Electrical Engineering from the same university, with diploma thesis work conducted at Stanford University.
