Dr. Olaf Müller

Olaf Müller is a distinguished professional with a strong background in computer science and extensive experience in automotive as well as mobile industry. He started his academic career at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), where he obtained his Master's degree in Computer Science from 1988 to 1993. Starting from 1994, Olaf Müller enhanced his expertise by his doctoral studies at the Technical University of Munich, where he successfully completed his PhD in 1998.

Between 1999 and 2006, Olaf had different leading positions within Siemens Mobile Phones, leveraging his expertise and skills in the area of mobile software development, product management and E/E integration. 

Since 2006, Olaf has been an integral part of the BMW Group in Munich, Germany, holding various key positions within the company. He started as an Integration Lead for ADAS and Autonomous Driving from 2006 to 2009 and later served as E/E architect and module lead for driver assistance and body control. His leadership skills and technical expertise led him to become the Head of Car Access Components from 2014 to 2017, followed by the role as Head of Digital Car Access from 2017 to 2023. In recognition of his exceptional contributions to the innovation of the Digital Key, Olaf has been awarded with the Herbert Quandt Ehrenring in 2021. He succeeded to establish an industry-wide ecosystem by means of a multilateral consortium and pushing radio and security technology into IEEE and the Car Connectivity Consortium. 

In 2023 he was appointed Managing Director of Software Development for AI Architecture, Automotive Core Functions and Autosar, where he in his current position in particular drives innovation and platforms in the area of AI and software within the automotive industry.
