Jochen Strenkert

Jochen Strenkert is since 2022 the Chief Engineer for the Mercedes Benz Operating System (MB.OS). His responsibilities include the overall E/E architecture which encompasses the hardware, software and series development of the base layer. He also drives the MB.OS Way of Working containing the CI/CD/CT Software Pipeline and the entire project, maturity level and budget steering. Jochen also heads MB’s open source initiatives and heads the MB FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) Steering Committee.

After graduating Technical Cybernetics at the University of Stuttgart with a master‘s degree, Jochen joined Mercedes-Benz AG in 1994 as a software engineer and system architect for powertrain control. He developed further to become the responsible manager for various automatic transmission control developments. In 2012, Jochen took over the software development department for alternative powertrains (Hybrid, Fuel Cell & eDrive). This assignment underpinned the plug-in hybrid development at Mercedes for the next decade and in 2018 he became the responsible director for all software and E/E hardware development across MB combustion engine powertrains.

Jochen is passionate about real transformation and is driving the change from line and project-oriented structure to a lean value stream vision based on scaled agile work and product practices.
